Response to Audience Profile

We have created an audience profile in order to know exactly who we are targetting the film opening at, as to find out what kind of elements need to be included. As such, our target audience are the typical teenager who loves to socialise but has good knowledge and experience of films and knows some technical aspects of films. As such, we will have to include various camera shots and techniques. Though it is only a two minute opening, it will have to capture the audience through things that they engage with; humour is often one of those things. The establishing shots used will also impact on the audience. It also needs to be a diversion from their everyday lives as teenagers like to escape the stresses of the world. Thus the opening will need to express aspects of life that either they have't been exposed to yet or aspects that they enjoy.

Response to results from questionnaire

Based on the results, it was clear to us that crime/mystery was a good choice of genre as the audience said that there were various aspects of crime/mystery films that they look for in films generally. The main aspect here was the sense of enigma created through suspense and the build up of tension in the film. They also tend to enjoy the character of the protagonist (the detective in the case of crime/mystery), whether serious or humorous in personality,in which both are often shown in crime/mystery. The various use of camera shots used are also very effective in capturing the audience such as establishing shots, and close-ups, as well as pull focus and the use of jump cuts. The main thing the audience look for though, is the sense of enigma.
